filed or checked.
Upload your documents and our technology pulls out what matters. We file your Self Assessment return, claim every relief you're entitled to, and show you exactly what was claimed and why before a qualified UK accountant signs it off. Already filed? We check earlier years too, and it is often not too late to put it right.
Free to sign up. Fixed price from £125, agreed before any work begins.

Upload what you've got
Our technology checks your documents and tells you what's missing, so you're not hunting for a P60.
- 02
An accountant prepares it
One of our qualified UK accountants prepares your return and hunts for reliefs you didn't know you could claim.
- 03
You see the working out
Every claim, why it was made and the document behind it, before you sign.
- 04
One price, agreed up front
Simple £125, Complex £250, Specialist £500. Nothing added later.
Already filed? It's often not too late.
If you have already submitted this year's return, or an earlier one, a second opinion backed by a qualified UK accountant tells you whether you claimed everything you were entitled to. There are two windows, and they are more generous than most people assume.
- 01
You can amend a Self Assessment return within 12 months of the normal filing deadline for that return.
- 02
After that window closes, you can still claim overpayment relief for up to 4 years from the end of the relevant tax year.
Signing up is free, so checking costs you nothing to start. We review what you submitted, show you exactly what was claimed and what was missed, and you decide what to do next.
Get this year's return filed, properly.
Most people arriving here have a return to file and want it done right the first time. That is the job. We collect what we need, claim every relief you're entitled to, and show you the full breakdown before anything is submitted.
- 01
Who actually has to file
A return can be required for untaxed income, self-employment, property income, the high-income child benefit charge, or capital gains, among other reasons. Plenty of people who assume PAYE covers everything are in fact required to file. If you're not sure, signing up is free and we'll tell you.
- 02
The dates that matter
A paper return is due by 31 October. An online return is due by 31 January, and the balancing payment for the tax year is due on the same date. Missing either can trigger penalties and interest.
- 03
Every relief claimed, and shown to you
Pension relief above basic rate, Marriage Allowance, working-from-home costs, professional subscriptions, Gift Aid, the things that get missed. You see what was claimed, why, and which documents back it up, before you sign.
- 04
We look at earlier years too
While we prepare this year's return we check whether earlier years were underclaimed. If we find something in 2024/25 or the two years before that, we'll tell you and explain what can be recovered.
You pay someone to handle your taxes. You still check their work yourself.
That's not being careful, it's a sign you don't fully trust what you're paying for. Record OS shows you exactly what was claimed, why, and which documents back it up, before you sign a thing.
What people get wrong on their Self Assessment
Most of what gets missed on a Self Assessment return is missed for the same handful of reasons. These are the ones we see most often.
Higher-rate pension relief
For most people, relief above basic rate is not given automatically through the pension scheme. It has to be claimed on the tax return. It's one of the most commonly missed items we see, and it's easy to go years without claiming it.
Marriage Allowance
This is available where one partner earns under the personal allowance and the other is a basic-rate taxpayer. It can also be backdated, so a claim now may cover earlier tax years as well.
Working from home and professional subscriptions
Where the conditions are met, working-from-home costs and approved professional subscriptions are allowable. Employed filers routinely leave both unclaimed, because nobody prompts them to include them.
Gift Aid donations
If you're a higher or additional-rate taxpayer, the charity only reclaims tax at the basic rate. You can claim the difference yourself through your return, but only if the donations are actually declared on it.
Payments on account
Payments on account are advance instalments towards your next tax bill, which is why a January bill is often larger than people expect. A second instalment usually falls due in July, and it's not an extra tax, it's payment in advance.
The deadlines
A paper return is due by 31 October. An online return is due by 31 January, and the balancing payment for the tax year is due on the same date. Missing either date can trigger penalties and interest.

Does Making Tax Digital apply to you?
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax went live in April 2026, and it has caused a lot of confusion. For most Self Assessment filers it changes nothing at all. It matters if you have self-employment or property income above a threshold.
- 01
For most filers, nothing changes
If your return covers employment income, pensions, savings, dividends, capital gains or the high-income child benefit charge, Making Tax Digital does not apply to you. You file one Self Assessment return a year, exactly as before.
- 02
It applies to self-employment and property income
From April 2026 it applies where qualifying self-employment or property income is over £50,000. The threshold drops to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028, so more people are brought in each year.
- 03
If it applies to you, we handle it
We keep the digital records, prepare and send the quarterly updates, and still file the annual return, with a qualified UK accountant reviewing everything. Sole traders and freelancers can read more on our sole trader page; landlords on our landlord page.

Before you ask
Is signing up really free?
Yes. Creating your account and seeing what you're entitled to claim costs nothing. You only pay when we file your return, at one fixed price agreed up front.
I have already filed. Can you still check my return?
Yes. We review what you submitted and show you what was claimed and what was missed. Depending on how long ago you filed, the return can usually either be amended or a claim for overpayment relief can be made.
Is this just AI?
No. AI does some of the initial analysis, but every return is reviewed and signed off by a real, qualified UK accountant. AI alone can't file a tax return.
How is this different from software like GoSimpleTax?
Software fills in the boxes. Record OS also checks what you're entitled to claim, and shows you exactly what was claimed and why, backed by a real accountant.
Do you handle all types of income?
Yes, employment, equity, property, self-employment, and combinations of all of them.
What happens after I sign up?
You'll get your full itemised breakdown as part of your return, reviewed by a real accountant. Filing is one fixed price, agreed up front, no hourly surprises.
